How To Get Rid Of Addiction Of Eating Multani Mitti?
I am 32 years and have a habit of eating multani mitti every day. This habit is since years. I want to get rid of this but failed in my efforts. Please tell me, is it damaging to health or does it lead to increase the weight.. await your prompt response.
Hi, I understand the distress you are going through. You seem to be suffering from Pica. Pica can be a result of nutritional deficiency like iron deficiency anemia, zinc deficiency, etc., or can occur as part of impulse control disorder. Eating multani mitti is definitely not healthy and can cause multiple gastrointestinal problems later on. So, it is highly recommended that you consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible. In case of any nutritional deficiency, that has to be corrected. If nutritional causes are ruled out, you will need to be treated by drugs like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (like escitalopram/ sertraline) or behavior therapy (habit reversal therapy specifically). Behavior therapy generally offers better results than drugs per say. Wish you all the best.
