How To Discontinue Intake Of Telmisartan?

Hi I am Mansukh i was diagnosed with BP 130/90 On ist Jan 2016. I went to doctor he just started Telmisartan 40 mg iam now fine. since i got BP i cut down salt, sugar, and desert. started exercise. i dont know because of medicine it has lowerdown or because of exercise and proper diet. MY current BP is 110/68 mm HG. I have a question shall i stop medication and continue exercise and diet.

Hello,

Let me tell you that it is always good to cut down salt,sugar and start exercise and these measures will certainly help lower your BP but it is also a fact that your BP is normal mostly because you are taking telmisartan which is an antihypertensive. I'd suggest talk to your doctor who may reduce the dose of telmisartan from 40 to 20 and then observe. You should always remember that changes in the dose of medicine should only be done by the doctor who has prescribed it.
