How To Deal With Anxiety And Depression After Broken Relationship?

Hello. My husband had a year long affair. He told me of it this January and broke it off then. We renewed our vows. However, the affair started again(we were living in separate countriees). We resumed living together in the country in which he had the affair(he is on a work permit there. I was having problems getting a permit, hence the year long separation) in April of this year. To shorten the tale, upon breaking up with the lady, he ended up chasing her with a knife. He did her no harm but it is now a court case. He was diagnosed by a psychiatrist as having chronic anxiety and moderate depression. My main concern is that he is having homicidal thoughts and suicidal ones too. How does he overcome them? the court has referred him to community rehabilitation which he is to start this week. Im hoping this will help. Its a really trying time for me. How do I cope?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
You husband needs psychological and social support to overcome the situation.
He is definitely suffering from anxiety and depression.
Engaging him in other social activities will improve his perception of the situation.
Family support is of utmost importance.
Medication of required will be prescribed by your doctor.
It is difficult for you too to cope up with the situation.
However, you too need family and social support.
It is important that you provide support to your husband and at the same time you should also take help from family and friends to provide support.
You too need to involve in social activities like meeting and mixing with other people.
I think this will help you and your husband.

Thanks and take care
