How To Cure Staph Infection?

I am a 41 year old female; I had abdominalplasty in 2008 after a gastric bypass in 2006; for the last year I noticed a slight discharge; I kept the area cleaned and didn't think twice...until last week. It started to smell foul. Went tot he doctor and they did a culture and it is a staf infection...I am freaked!!! I have noticed a bloated abdomin this past week. She put me on antibiotics, but I am freaked! How could this happen??
