How To Cure Red Marks Around The Lower Back?

Have 1/4 square, bright red mark that appeared on side of lower back. It was a bit itchy at first but I thought it would just go away. It is weeks later, is still red and square and doesn t seem to be reacting to benadryl. I got this at the same time I got other mosquito bites but they are long gone.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would like to rule out fungal infection here. Lower back, especially belt area is very prone to develop fungal infections. You could get a KOH examination done from the patch to either confirm or rule out fungal infection.

If confirmed to be a fungal infection you could apply a topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole twice daily for 2-4 weeks which would be sufficient to resolve it.

An oral antihistamine like cetrizine once daily would help to control the itch associated with it.

regards
