How To Cure Painful Swollen Shin?

I took a very hard kick to the shin in a game of football. Later in the day I had to play a tennis match and throughout the match it was very painful. When I finished the match I noticed that my shin had become very swollen. I iced it as soon as I got home and the swelling had reduced the next day. It is now a week later and I am still having pains in my shin even when only touched lightly.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to musculo-skeletal injury due to the trauma obtained in football game.
X ray of the affected lower limb needs to be done to rule out any pathological cause for the symptoms.

Symptomatic relief can be obtained by application of ice, analgesic & muscle relaxant gel, intake of analgesics like Diclofenac (to be taken after food) + Pantoprazole (to be taken 30 minutes before meals).
Supplements of Calcium & Vitamin D can be included in diet which will help in strengthening of bones.
Physiotherapy exercise will also be helpful.

There is no need to worry, you will be fine.
Till then, maintain adequate hydration & nutrition status, take proper rest and avoid stress.
Wishing a Good Health.
Take care.

You have to see doctor anyway, 1 week pain must be some bone pathology. You need to pass X Ray exam to be sure that everything fine.
