How To Cure Left Upper Abdominal Pain After Having Gall Bladder Removed ?
History: had gallbladder removed and a total abdominal hyterectomy 3 years ago. I had been having left upper abdominal pain that radiated to the back for quite some time when I saw my PCP. She must have felt something in my abdomen because she sent me for a abdominal ultrasound which revealed that I have an enlarged liver and spleen. I received the results 2 days ago. She said she had to get a referral in order to send me to a GI doctor. Since then the pain was increased expedentially and has started to radiate to my shoulder and chest. I called my PCP office ysterday for some pain medication (up until then I was making due with 800 mg ibuprofen every 4-6 hours and a heating pad which did not work). My PCP was not in and her associate was unwilling to give me any pain meds because of the hepatosplenomegaly. Finally after several phone calls and me breaking down in tears, he reluctantly gave me diclofenac, which has not touched the pain. Last night the pain got so bad that I was practically crying. The pain gest worse after eating anything. My question is should I go to the emergency room?
