Hello, its been over a week since i finished my antibiotics that i had to take for chlamydia. Which should have treated it. I have not had any sex during the treatment. A few days a go i have noticed that in the morning and sometimes during the day i have some white stains on my underwear. I have been checking since until this morning. I didnt have any this morning. But out of curiosity i passed urine in an clear disposable cup to see whats going on. Then i saw some stringy things on the bottom of the cup. Does this mean the infection it back? :s

Urethral discharge persiting after adequate antibiotic treatment for chlamydia is not usual. You may take up a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) test to confirm whether the cause of persistant urethral discharge is chlamydia or not. It could be due to causes other than chlamydia like Ureaplasma Urealyticum, Mycoplasma Genitalium Or Trichomoniasis. Though doxycycline, which is common used to treat chlamydia is also effective for Ureaplasma Urealyticum and Mycoplasma Genitalium as well, however Mycoplasma Genitalium may be resistant to Doxycycline and responds better to Azithromycin Trichomoniasis may also be a cause of persisting urethral discharge after adequate treatment for chlamydia. Therefore I suggest treatment with both Azithromycin and Tinidazole/ metronidazole to cover for both of these possibilities. I suggest that you revisit your doctor for a confirmatory diagnosis and for the needful.
