How To Check For Internal Damage After Severe Fall?

I off a chair and hit my chest really hard on one of the legs. I couldn t breath for a while and got a cold sweat. It hurt really bad. I have an ice pack on it right now. I m worried that there might be some sort of internal organ damage or a damaged aorta. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,
To look for any internal injury,we have to do a chest examination, with an x-ray if needed. If you have no severe pain/difficulty in breathing, significant injury is unlikely.Anyhow, you need not worry about aortic injury. With aortic injury following trauma, you wont be able to post this question your own.It will result in sudden vascular collapse.
Kindly see your doctor and get your chest examined. After ruling out any internal injury, this can be managed with analgesics for a few days.Meanwhile, continue cold compresses.
Wishing a faster cure,Thank you.
