Hello,

Hiccups are caused due to involuntary contractions of the diaphragm which may be stimulated by many factors. In your husband's case, it seems Amoxycillin caused the irritation leading to hiccups. In most cases, hiccups subside by themselves but since your husband is not relieved even after two days he may require medications.

There are some drugs which are useful in stopping hiccups like chlorpromazine and metoclopramide but these are prescription drugs and have to be prescribed by a physician. You should consult your physician regarding the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
