Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My blood pressure is around 145/90 and i am taking 50mg of Triamterene. Because my blood pressure is elevated, my doctor wants to put me on Lisinopril 10mg. The pharmacy warned about the medications both causing potassium levels to raise to unhealthy levels and to double check with my doctor. I did, and they still say it s okay to take it even though the things I read on the net and what the pharmacy told me were negative. I am 27 years old and am already half way through the process of getting the gastric bypass, if I change doctors now then the whole process will be screwed. If I continue to take the Triamterene and not start this new drug, then how long approximately will I see positive results if I try to lower the bloodpressure though diet/exercise. I am wondering on average if you see results in weeks or months because I don t trust this pill nor the doctor seeing that I was already in the emegency room last weekend because he had me on something else that didn t work. The Linsinopril is a small dose though so I am wondering if it also makes a huge difference
Have you tried propranolol? It worked great for my anxiety and migraine which can cause high blood pressure. I was on it for two years and i didnt get any side effects. I was on it from 1994 til 1996. Believe me, until today, i never had a single migraine no more. Do ask your doctor about it.
Anyhow if you want, do try out malay alternative remedy for your blood pressure. My husband had the same problem with his blood pressure. I gave him:
1. Chopped chives eaten the way of your likings or
2. Water boiled with chives 2 cups a day or
3. Eat lots of garlic cooked or preferably fresh or
4. eat lots of bean sprouts
I used the chive methods for him to drink, and i also frequently gave him fresh chopped onions mix with soy sauce whenever he eats rice. His blood pressure is now normal.
Good luck.
