How Should Finger Injury Due To Hedge Trimmer Be Treated?

I cut my left middle finger with a hedge trimmer today. There is a half inch flap of skin that is hanging on. I have rinsed and cleaned with mild soap. The cut is fairly deep and stings if i put pressure on it. Right now I'm using a gauze wrap to keep it protected. Is there anything else is should do?

Hello dear,

Welcome to HCM.

I have read your query and understood your concern.

You may apply topical antibiotics like mupirocin 2 % twice daily over the lesion.
Cover it with clean gauze.
Keep the area dry and clean.

If much deep, may require oral antibiotics also like macrolides/ cephalosporins.

Good luck.
