How Should Acute Diarrhea With Cramping Be Treated?
my 83 yo mother had to have her iliocecal valve removed because of a bowel obstruction and now has chronic diarhhea. Is there anything she can take to firm up her stools, she has such a poor quality of life becaus she never knows when she will have to go and some days its 15 -16 times and has horrible cramping. She has also been hospitalized several times because her sodium gets too low

I would recommend her to use over the counter option such as Imodium to treat diarrhea.
I also recommend her to take daily probiotics.
I suggest a plain diet of bananas, rice, apple juice and toast.
