How Should Metformin And Topamax Be Taken After Discontinued Intake?

Recently, I quit taking my prescribed metformin and Topamax-mostly because I kept having very rapid heart beats...physician would not take me off of them. Now I am so completely worn out (tired) I can t see straight. Should I start taking the meds again?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Metformin is anti diabetic drug.
Topamax is Topiramate. It is anti epileptic drug.
Both drugs should be continued for longer time.
You are can restart these drugs as soon as possible. Don't stop them without consulting your doctor because stopping them can cause epileptic attack and hyperglycemia.
For your rapid heart beats, you should get done ecg and Holter monitoring (24 hours continuous recording of Ecg).
If these are normal then no need to worry much. Start propranolol and flunarizine to control stress and anxiety related palpitations.
Don't worry, you will be alright but first start these drugs.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
