How Should DHEA Drops Be Taken?

I have been prescribed DHEA drops by a functional medicine Dr. I cannot tolerate the drops under the tongue, the Doc said not to add to my smoothie in the morning as I have been doing. What is my alternative? How can I take these drops? It s unfortunate that the only choice of payment includes a subscription. I would not be interested because of this! A one time payment without subscription should be a choice.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
DHEA drops have to be taken sub-lingually. That is the recommended route. With this route the drug is rapidly absorbed from the mouth mucous membrane and goes to blood stream directly, without going to the liver. If it goes to liver then it goes through a first pass metabolism where a considerable amount of the drug is metabolized. There is no other route advised for this preparation. Suppose one swallows it then a considerable amount of the drug is wasted. Thanks.
