How Safe Is The Combination Of Lamictal And Ritalin?

Good afternoon, My name is Sue and I am a 67 years old epileptic. I am currently taking 200 mg of Lamictal a day. I spoke with a neurophyscologist who feels I may benefit from taking ritalin and has suggested that I contact my nuerologist about taking it. What are the possible consequences of this combination other than addiction

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If this is the case of epilepsy you are having and taking the medicine for this then question of addiction is not there, just a single molecule of antiepileptic drug is okay no need to take multiple drugs unless the episode of seizure are frequent, but non of the drug could cause the addiction if it is the anti-epileptic drugs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
