How Safe Are Non-steroid Inflammatory Drugs On A Long Run?

I am a 64 year old female who has had chronic lower back problems and osteoarthritis. Diclofenac/misoprost (50/2) has been very effective taken one or two times a day. I have been on them for about 10 months. How long can one safely keep taking this NSAID?? I have no history of heart disease myself but have a family history thereof.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The risk of heart disease is greater there is a history of heart disease and also if there are risk factors for heart disease (hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol).

Even with the absence of any of the above, these medications should not be used continuously.

You may want to take a short break for a few weeks and use a medication from a different family of drugs.

I hope this helps
