How Much Days Does One Take To Recover From Chickenpox And What Is The Safe Time To Resume Work ?

My 3 year old duaghter started with Chickenpox 8 days ago. Most of the spots have now scabbed over. Will she be ok to go on holiday on Saturday (and swim in the pool)?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi;

welcome to HealthcareMagic

Sorry she should not go for swimming in a pool & if possible even for a holiday.Please understand that although the eruptions are scabbed she is still an active carrier of the chicken pox virus which is in infective stage.She can go for swimming 2 weeks after the scabs are completely healed but she can go for a holiday after the scabs are healed.Till then the risk of transferring the infection will be there.

Take care.

Thanks
