How Long Should Ear Tubes Stay In The Ear?

Hello, before I had some eae tubes out in, my hearing was fine, aside from the fact that the pressure in my ears would not equalize but I had a method for fixing that, by pluging my nose, and inhailing quick and hard, then the peeasurw would be fine for a while until I do it again. When I didn t do that, I could hear my breathing, everything was 10x louder and it made me very irritable and kept me up at night. I was told this surgery would help. And fix that problem, but I wasn t sure, I thought that it might end up after the surgery being like when the peeasure in my ears wasn t equal, and its 3 to 4 hours after the surgery and it seems my huntch was right. Right now I can heat my breathing, all my bodily functions, I could hear a pin drop from next door. I will kind of just got the surgery but aright now. Its not looking good. Can the ear tubes be removed? Would that make them weird again? Because I know my way of hearing was different from everyone else s but I could control that and it wasn t uncomfortable when I could control it. Maybe it just need more time, bit right now the surgery was a sucsess, but the intentions were different, and now I m very scared, because I don t want to have to hear like this for the rest of my life.

Hello,

Ear tubes placement surgery will take time of at least 6 weeks to recover. The ear tubes fall off by themselves in 6-12 months. So you need to give some more time for the wound to heal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
