Good day,
Noted your concern.
You underwent radio iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism and has developed hypothyroidism now. This is quite expected. Since the radio iodine has destroyed the thyroid gland, you will need life long replacement with Eltroxine. It is unlikely that you will get another attack of hyperthyroidism as the gland is already destroyed.
Not to worry, Eltroxine is a safe drug. I would say, hyperthyroidism and its treatment is more difficult and most tablets used for treatment of hyperthyroidism ( neomercazole, Methimazole etc) are toxic. Hence the decision to undergo radio iodine treatment was a right one. Eltroxine is a simple thyroid hormone tablet and is perfectly safe. You will need it life long.
