How Long Should I Have To Continue Medicine For Depression?
good morning sir iam suresh from bangalore. iam sufering with major depresive episode from last three years .now my health condition is good but , my doctor suggested to me to continue the tablets . so actually how many years i will take tablets continuesly

Duration of the treatment for depression depends on the illness duration and total past episodes
Usually treatment lasts for six months to 1 year
From your question, I got that you are taking treatmnt since last 3 year
So if you r completely symptoms free since last one year with medication, then you shoud start tappering the dose of the medication
And slowly over the period of 4-6 month you shold stop the medicatios , if worsening of symptoms dont occur
I would like to know on which medication your are right now, so I can suggest you how to tapper the medication
