How Long Should Folic Acid Be Continued For Alcohol Withdrawal?

Hi I am recovering from a seizure likely due from alcohol withdrawal. I was prescribed folic acid but he ER doc a little over 2 months ago and I am almost finished with the second and final refill of. 1 mg per day. Is it necessary for me to continue taking this supplement upon completion of my prescription in 17 more days?

The guidelines do not give a good cut off for this. In theory it might be very short. in practice, most people who actually need folate get benefit from it for at least a year. The blood test for folate amounts is not a good test. Mostly, people would be on it either for about 1 month (wrong) and the prescription doesn't get filled. or they are on it for about a year and then the blood count is checked after stopping it for a month.
