How Long Post Hysterectomy Should Menest Tablets Be Continued?

How long should I be taking Menest 0.3 mg.? I had a partial LAVH and kept my ovaries 2/17/1999? I am still taking the medication 1 tablet daily. I am 63 years old. If I need to quit taking the drug, can you please explain what effect that will have on my body. If it is okay to continue taking the drug, how much longer should I remain on it? I am on Levothyroxin 0.25 mg. daily since early 2011. Thank you for any help you can give me on this matter.

Hello, every hormonal medication has to be monitorizated with laboratory levels.
Estrógens, either used alone, or with another hormonw (progestine), have rarely caused very serius side effects.
Estrogens can increase the risk of cancer of the ovaries even if you have only a part of them. Increase the risk of steokw, dementia and breast cáncerTherfore, this medication should be used at the lowest effective dose and dor the SHORTEST AMOUNT OF TIME.
You have to check with your doctor every 3 to 6 months to see if you still need to take this medication (physical exam).
