Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How long is the shelf life of Tizandine 4MG Tab? I had previously been subscribed these as a muscle relaxer for spams in my back. I was then given hydrocodiene as a pain killer, but the spasms persist. I still have some of the Tizanidine and am wondering if they are still good to take instead.
If you are taking it for the same episode of spasm, and it has been only a few weeks since it was prescribed to you, then it is probably safe to continue taking it. If you are having a new episode of spasm and the medicine was prescribed months ago, I would be more cautious.
It really depends on when the tablets were manufactured, and how long the pharmacy kept it before passing it on to you. All medication will come with their own expiry date, check all around the packaging (bottle or box) and it should be printed there. If you don't have the original packaging, check along the edges of the blister pack, it is usually imprinted there.
If you can't find the expiry date, I would advise tossing it in the bin and getting new ones.
Hope this helps, and all the best to you.
Regards, Dr. Teh
