How Long Does The Healing Take After Suffering From Broken Legs?

I have a broken leg, both bones, about 2-3 inches above the ankle. Surgery by orthopedic physician. Healing about a month and expected not be load bearing for about 2 weeks from now. I m in a care center for physical therapy which end up totaling about 6 weeks. Is this normal for a broken leg? Insurance seems to be approving it which is amazing to me. Is this a normal course of treatment for such an injury? Vertical rod placed inside bones in left leg.

Hello,

Healing of fractured bone takes minimum 21 days to heal. This duration can increase if the fracture is complicated by multiple broken bone fragments. Insertion of vertical rod suggests that the fracture is compound or comminuted.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
