How Long Does The Abscess In Mouth Take To Alleviate?
Hello, I have a dental abcess that started 4 almost two weeks ago. There has been no pain throughout any of it. My dentist cannot see me for a few days go extract because the swelling is to bad. I am on clindamycin every 6 hours but its getting worse everyday and now it has spread to my jaw and is quite visible from the outside of my face as well.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a Dental Abscess can egress with antibiotics but until there is an escape way for pus to drain off there can be persistent abscess.. Commoy the dentist makes a deep hole or cavity in the tooth to make a way for pus to drain off.. So In case if there is excess swelling you can consult another dentist who can make an access cavity in tooth under local anaesthesia so that the pus will drain off and swelling will reduce.. Continue taking antibiotics like Clindamycin.. Do warm saline gargles..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
