How Long Does Marijuana Stay In An Unborn Baby S System?

Hi, how long does marijuana stay in an unborn baby s system? I smoked everyday for two years straight & then found out I was 6 weeks pregnant & quit completely when I was 14 weeks pregnant. I gave birth to my son via C section at 40 weeks pregnant & they told me my baby tested positive for marijuana. How long does is stay in they re system? Was it in his system because I smoked everyday for two years & continued to smoked until I was about 14 weeks?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query smoking Marijuana could affect since first trimester till last trimester. It could result in low birth weight babies, miscarriage, abortion. It can cause growth problem in foetus as well. It cannot be predicted actually that how low will it stay as it depends on body metabolic rate as a general rule it stays 30 days in boy and detected mainly in initial 10 days. I would suggest you to stop it immediately. If it is giving you much addiction taper the dose and eventually stop. If after baby birth you will start having it again it will reach by milk and will stay in baby system and will start giving adverse effects.
