However, it does nt penetrate deeper than startum corneum which is the superficial layer of the skin and therefore it won t cause any permanent scaring. The dead skin may take up to a week to peel off but ultimately it would reveal a normal looking skin If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g fluticasone propionate 0.05% cream twice daily, for 3-5 days. That would hasten the healing. This is a prescription product. You can go to a nearby dermatologist for a check up. Your dermatologist can assess and prescribe a topical steroid, if needed. Regards
