How Long Does Injury To Face Take To Heal?

My daughter banged her face weeks ago. She still has a tiny bruise but also has a large dimple in the middle of her cheek. This has also affected her mouth, as that side of her lips doesn t turn up the same when she smiles. It is not painful and doesn t bother her. Will it ever go away?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems that your daughter has suffered injury to the nerve that supplies the upper lip and cheek.

Unfortunately, in that case, she has to wait for few weeks to few months till the nerve regenerates and supplies the sensations to the upper lip and cheek back. Physiotherapy, massaging to the area and electrical stimulation can help to regain the sensations back faster. Otherwise, it is a matter of time till the injury heals.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your daughter feels better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
