Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCm.
I understand your concern.
Syphilis is easy to cure in its early stages. Penicillin is the antibiotic most commonly used to treat syphilis.
Three doses of long acting Benzathine penicillin G (2.4 million units) should be administered intramuscularly at weekly intervals, and is recommended for individuals with late
latent syphilis or latent syphilis of unknown duration.
Treatment will kill the syphilis bacterium and prevent further damage, but it will not repair damage already done.
Persons who receive syphilis treatment must abstain from sexual contact with new partners until the syphilis sores are completely healed.
A follow-up exam and a
blood test for cure should be done at 6 and 12 months after the antibiotics are given (and may be done at 24 months after latent syphilis) to be sure the infection is cured.
Persons with syphilis must notify their sex partners so that they also can be tested and receive treatment if necessary, and do the necessary follow-up.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
