Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query.Femur bone IM nail is removed if there is any discomfort like pain.It usually take 1 year to completely heal and form strong bone. After that you can discuss with your orthopedic surgeon for removal if there is any discomfort. You will need around 3 to 6 months even after removal. You should only walk on support and controlled weight bearing till the bone again heals.Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any further query.
I find this answer helpful
