How Long Does A Fractured Foot Bone Take To Heal?

I was diagnosed with minimally displaced 3rd and 4th metatarsals. I was given a boot and told that I can put weight on it if it doesn t hurt. 7 days later it doesn t seem to hurt in the walking boot. Is it okay if I walk on it? Will it extend the healing process?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A bone may need three weeks or more regular to heal depending on the conditions of broken bones. If your fracture is minimal and without dislocation it may heal fast and three weeks are enough. The pain is supposed to stop earlier and after a week you may not feel pain.
Since doctor told you that you can put on weight on it then you can. I would have preferred to put a split and support it for 3 weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
