How Long Does Norethisterone Stay In The Blood Stream?

Hi I was prescribed norethistone pill to delay my period as I was getting married and going on my honeymoon. My period came early on Wednesday 19th July ( I was expecting it on Sunday 23rd July) so I took the first pill on Thursday 20th July And stopped taking the pills on Saturday 29th July. It didn t stop my period the whole time it made me spot, so had to use sanitary products the whole time. When will the hormones leave my system as the extra hormones have made me tired, spotty, moody, impatient and not a very nice person to be around and made me feel sick so would li,e to know when they will leave my system so I can be back to my normal self again.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Hormones mostly stop being in our system within 8 days of withdrawal to cause withdrawal bleeding.
When the hormones taken for postponement stopped acting you got bleeding... so you again started the pills... which could not stop the regular menses...& spotting continued... to spoil your plan..
The prolonged intake of hormone causes psychological changes or nausea,vomitting,dizziness...
Please don't worry. Stop taking pills ... these hormones take 8 -10 days at the most to disappear from the system to relieve your symptoms.
.you may get bleeding.. which will stop in a weeks time/ir may need medication to regularise the menstrual pattern-pl. consult a gynrcologist.
Thanks.
