I had a scratchy sore throat starting a week ago. Increased in discomfort headache, strange high-pitched .cough started Wed. I think. Throat felt dry & swollen--relieved somewhat by nearly constant sipping of cold beverage. Felt much worse on Thur. Fri. morning, cannot speak above a whisper & feel really bad. Continues same now on Sun. afternoon. How long can laryngitis & all this last?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your history: scratchy sore throat - 1 week, discomfort, headache, high pitched cough, dryness in throat, now can not speak above whisper. I would advise you the following: Consult an ENT for Endoscopy to see how much is the laryngitis, what exact changes are there. Start proper medications under his guidance as this is very important for the laryngitis to settle. Give speech a rest. No talking at all. Plain water steam inhalations. Laryngitis takes about 1 to 3 weeks to settle.
