How Long Do Bladder Issues Caused By Diovan Take To Subside?

I can t afford the $180.00 co-pay for benicar which I have taken for years. so my dr prescribed diovan as an alternative for $10. The Diovan causes my bladder to burn and frequent urination, after taking just one day. stopped and am taking some benicar samples for right now, but they won t last long. Will the bladder issue continue or disappear? I m afraid of bladder infection. thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This is not a known side effect of Diovan but everyone reacts differently to medication.

It is possible that with continued use that the effects would decrease but there are also other members of that drug family if the effects remain and you need to switch. eg Telmisartan, Losartan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
