How Long Can Postinor 2 Delay Menstruation?

How long can postinor 2 delay menstruation? Saw my period on 28 February, took postinor on 11 of March. Today is 29 and I m yet to see my period. I feel tenderness, pains in my breast and lower abdomen but a pregnancy test came out negative. Could I be opregnant after all?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Postinor 2 is taken after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. It is effective if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. It rarely delays the period. If your periods are delayed more than 5 days then you are suggested to get clinically assessed by a gynae. You may be pregnant. Get repeat urine test with the first midstream morning urine to confirm regnancy. You can also take blood test or have a USG (uterus) done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
