Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Long After Congestive Heart Failure Hospitalization Can One Get Back To Work?
My husband has diabetes and just came out of the hospital with congestive heart failure and dr stated his heart is functioning at 25 percent. His heart pulse for the past year or so was 120 and above. His dr never suggested that he go on a medicine that would help slow that down and we did not know any better. Also, family dr was just giving him antibiotics for the past month after 2 visits. Should he be back to work so soon after being in the hospital for 4 days and having fluid on his lungs for almost a month?
Dear Mrs, I would advise your husband to stay at home at least 7 days. If he will be in a good health after 7 days he can return to work. You haven't mension what is his job. I hope you have discussed with your doctor his work regimen as you know certain jobs are prohibited for heart failure patients and cone worsen disease.
