How Is Pulmonary Tuberculosis Diagnosed?

hi doc my son diagnose ptb in his xray but the result of sputum is negative but before he s going to examine in his sputum test he take medicine claregyn if im not mistaken. as the doctor advice.now he still longer waiting what is the next step for the center please advice me.thank you so much.

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it can be diagnostic of TB with normal sputum results as negative possibility does occur even when active TB. A chest CT scan may be helpful to diagnose even further.

MTB PCR or TB gold test may also be asked. Gene expert test may also be sought. It's better to get a pulmonologist review.
