How Is Pleuritic Chest Pain Different From Cardiac Chest Pain?

Hello Spouse has pain in chest. Has history of heart trouble and hbp. But has had a sinus infection and had steroid injection and taking amoxicillin musinex and noise spray. Has coughing episodes. How do we know if his chest pain could be plurasy or heart issue. ?

Thanks for writing to HCM.

Pleuritic chest pain is felt with breathing as the pleura moves with respiration. So when there is no respiratory movement there is less or no pain. But Cardiac pain may be continious, aggravate with effort and decrease with rest.

Hope this helped. Do let us know
