How Is HSV 2 Transmitted?

Hi doc I am beyond confused, I recently found out that I am positive for HSV 2 there has been no man I slept with after my 4 1/2 year break up with my ex bf. I feel beyond betrayed and humiliated because I am certain that I had unprotected sex with him but on the other hand he HAS NOT! I VE GOT TO THE GYNO FOR BV ON MANY OCCASIONS & I COULD REMEMBER HIM COMPLAINING OF TINGLING, LEG PAIN, FATIGUE, BUT NO OUTBREAKS. SO WITH ME I HAD THIS TINY BUMP (WHICH I THOUGHT IT WAS A HAIR BUMP) AND WE HAD SEX DURING THOSE TIMES. Now I know I contacted him but he says well I m negative but something just isn t right, altered paperwork, lying, or he can be a carrier per my doctor.. this is all new to me and TOTALLY CONFUSED PISSED AND UPSET!

Thanks for query at HCM!
I suggest You need to stop worrying about the whole issue.
Herpes simplex type 2 is a herpes virus that is the cause genital herpes, which is characterized by sores in the genital area.
It is a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

Firstly What are your complaints?
Are you having:
1. blistering sores (in the mouth or on the genitals)
2. pain during urination (genital herpes)
3. itching

You need to get tested by serological or molecular tests like ELISA, PCR from serum.
If you are having above symptoms then the treatment of infection with herpes simplex type 2 will require topical or oral anti-viral medication(Famvir, Zovirax, and Valtrex) for which one can visit a dermatologist.
Also get VDRL, HIV tests done.
Take care!
