How Frequently Should Powergyl Be Given To Manage Diarrhea In A Toddler?
Hi My son, 31 months old having loose motions since last 24 hours, he consumed fish for yesterday s lunch, is this the cause for it? And now we brought Powergyl to give him, please suggest quantity of medicine and how frequently should I provide him. Thank you.

The fish he ate would not be the cause of his diarrhea unless it was under-cooked. Did any other family member eat the fish? Do they have loose motions?
Has he been in contact with any other person with diarrhea? Does he attend daycare?
If your child is otherwise acting normally, has no fever, eating and drinking, and loose motions do not contain blood, then he most likely
has a viral intestinal infection. This usually goes away without treatment within 2-3 days.
The maker of Powergyl Suspension says it is for treatment of many
infections: stomach, intestinal, ulcers, eye&ear, as well as other infections in body.
It contains two different antibiotics. Please be aware that antibiotics are a common cause of loose motions. Their side effects include:
-blurred vision
-nausea
-abdominal pain
-chills
-itching
-vomiting
A website, NOT the maker of this medicine, says it can be used 2-3times a day.
The possible harm from this medicine clearly outweighs any benefit.
Do not give this to your child.
If he develops dry skin, dry mouth and lips, no tears, reduced urine or
the loose motions continue for greater than 4-5days, let him be seen by his pediatrician.
