Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Lisinopril 40 mg for 2 years. The pills were Watson manufactured. The pharmacy recently changed to a different generic by Sandoz. With the Watson product my BP stayed consistent, pre and post dosing. Now that I am taking the Sandoz product it is not controlling my BP consistently. My pre dosage BP is now 40-50 points higher. I believe it to be the change in generics, the pharmacist says no. I think he is wrong after doing some research. What say you?
Hi. Welcome to HCM. Watson or Sandoz it does not matter if it contains lisinopril 40 mg your BP should be under control after taking either of the two medications. Even after taking medications your BP may vary slightly depending on the time when u checked your BP. Your BP varies in a day (its called diurnal variation of BP). I suggest u to check your BP twice in a day (morning and evening) for atleast 4-5 days before drawing any conclusions. It is also better to consult your treating doctor and he will examine u and check your BP and later change medications if it is not under control. Regards
