How Effective Is Sertraline, Buspar And Diazepam For Clinical Depression?

I ve been taking sertraline, buspar and diazepam for clinical depression, OCD and GAD since the late 1990s. These medications are very effective. I recently moved to New Mexico and now do not have my long time physician (15 years). I have what remains of my sertraline and buspar prescriptions (they were 12 month refills), but the diazepam had to be refilled every 90 days. My prescription expired last month and I have been to two doctors now and neither would refill my prescription for diazepam. Their attitudes were horrible and they treated me like a drug addict! Diazepam helps me cope with constant panic attacks and without it I am a mess. I have a professional job and I am very, very effective and capable as long as I have my medication. Without it, the last month, I am not doing well at work to say the least. What should I do? Is there a way I can get a prescription for diazepam from a doctor in Albuquerque who won t treat me like some kind of addict, but rather a person with a mental illness who is functional with the proper medication? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Hi,

You are in no way an addict. Please don't bother the attitude of those doctors. You can do the following:
1) Contact your long time physician over phone and ask him to send a prescription online and take a print out.
2) Contact your long time physician and ask him if he has any friends here at your place who can give you a prescription for diazepam
3) You can try any other psychiatrist in the city you are living now

But please don't lose hope. You will certainly find a physician who would refill your diazepam. Try any of the above.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
