How Effective Is Metoprolol Tartrate And Amlodipine Besylate As Combination Drugs?

my bp now is 181/87 mmh\Hg pulse rate is 87bpm i am taking amlodipine besylate tablets is 5 mg once daily as maintenace coz before my bp is only 120/80 . I increase it to 10 mgs. Can I take Metoprolol Tartrate as combination with amlodipine besylate?

Hello,

Metoprolol can be used in combination with amlodipine as it decreases your sympathetic drive. The same is producing systolic hypertension and a relatively high heart rate for you. It would be better to take it as a twice-daily dose to get good 24-hour coverage.
