General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
Welcome to HCM,
I read your query and i appreciate your concern regarding this issue.

Regarding Implanon,If it was inserted between Day 1 (the day you started your period) and Day 5 of your cycle, then you do not need a back up. If it is inserted any other day of your cycle, a barrier method, like condoms, needs to be used for first seven days after insertion.
After insertion of implant, your health care provided should check that the implant is in your arm by feeling for it. If you and your health care provider cannot feel the IMPLANON implant, use a non-hormonal birth control method (such as condoms) until your health care provider confirms that the implant is in place.

Hope so it will be helpful.
