How Early Should Dressing For Drained Abscess In Labia Be Removed?

My daughter was seen at the ER for a labia abscess. It was drained and packed and She was given antibiotics. She is to follow up with OBGYN in 3 days to have the packing removed and to check the wound. Is 3 days too long to wait to remove the packing?

Hi,
thanks for your query on HCM.
Usually a 2 day dressing is advisable for a dressing of wound but sometimes it depends on the doctors who take 3 days to dress a wound.
Late removal of dressing might cause a bacterial growth over the dressing which can cause complications.
So I would like to say a 3 day dressing might not cause so much of a problem if she is treated by antibiotics.
hope I was able to resolve the query.
I find this answer helpful
