How Does Menstrual Bleeding Differ From A Ruptured Hemorrhagic Cyst?

How can I tell the difference between a ruptured hemmorhagic cyst and a regular period? I am experiencing no pain (except for one sharp abdominal pain the day before bleeding began). Bleeding has been going on for 3 days now (with a minimal amount of a clear odorless fluid). I am 54 Nd in the initial stages of menopause (I think). I had a ruptured hemmorhagic cyst about 10 years ago (diagnosed by an ultrasound).
