How Do You Cure An Excessive Nasal Discharge?

How do you cure an over active snot gland ??

I have had a continuous runny nose for weeks now and I have a feeling this is a cause of over active snot glands as I don't have any symptoms for any illness other than a runny nose. If an over active snot gland is the case how do you cure it ??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Excessive nasal discharge or rhinitis commonly occurs due to allergy, viral infections, sinus infections, etc.

Stay away from pollen, pollution, dust, cigarette smoke, fumes. Visit ER, get examined & get X-Ray PNS done to rule out any Sinus problem. Take antihistamines, decongestants, nasal sprays to get relieved.

But you may need antibiotics & other medications if you get febrile & get a headache.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

Excessive nasal discharge may be due to acute rhinitis due to viral infection. It may be chronic in case of chronic allergies.

Use water vapor inhalation and do salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Use tablet Montelukast and Levocetirizine.

If symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
