How Did This Heart Attack Actually Happen?

My husband, age 57, just passed away from the widow maker heart attack.
He got up to go to work and as always, sat on the second step of the basement steps to smoke. I heard him fall down the stairs and found hi, at the bottom on concrete, he was still breathing, I called 911, while on the phone with them, he walked up the stairs and when I told him help was on the way, he said to cancel them that he just blacked out for a second and he was going to work. He then walked up another flight of stairs to the bathroom and sat on the comode and fell off onto the floor, got back up onto the comode while I was calling 911 back, and was mumbling, I held him steady while waiting for them to arrive, when they did he was still breathing but was unconsious when they left for the hospital. He died there only minutes later. The only symptoms he was having was his stomach hurt after eating for a couple of months prior and said he had a sick feeling after eating bananas or something sweet and then the feeling would pass. Could you explain any of this to me?

Dear Madam
Thanks for your query.
I am sorry to hear about your husband. Actually most of the heart attacks occur due to sudden blockage of blood vessels supplying the heart. The blockage occurs due to formation of a clot over a cholesterol plaque. The clot occludes the vessel lumen totally which was being occluded partly by plaque as yet. This process occurs rapidly and may occur in absence of any other previous sign of heart disease.
Sincerely
Sukhivnder
