How Did The Food Pipe Near The Stomach Shrink?

hello sir,my grand mother is in hospital from last 15 days her age is 65.She is facing some problem in her food pipe,she is not able to eat properly and if she tries to eat then she is not able to swallow it properly by the time she is in hospital she is depending on liquid which is supplied to her by her nose.After doing some test doctors told that her food pipe got shrink near her stomach.Please can u explain what happened to her.

scarring from stomach acid (Reflux) is quite a common reason for deformity of the esophagus. It can be surgically corrected.
